Five things Friday: Favourites

Rounding out the week by joining in the fun of 'Five Things Friday'

1.  Favourite book:

'If Elizabeth Bennet had the washing of her own petticoats,' Sarah thought, 'she would be more careful not to tramp through muddy fields.'

Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice below stairs - the story of romance, intrigue, and drama among the servants of the Bennet household.

If you are a Jane Austen fan, how can you resist that teaser!  I requested  Longbourn by Jo Baker from my library and had it in my hot little hands two days later.  Another three days later and I had finished it.  I really enjoyed Jo Baker's take on the Bennet's and what might have been happening all around them.  Her take on Elizabeth is quite interesting, she certainly isn't painted in the same heroine light as in Pride and Prejudice. My next read will be Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan, it was recommended on 774ABC radio as a contemporary Pride and Prejudice set in Singapore - can't wait!

2. Favourite buy:
I picked up this top on sale at Sportsgirl for $19 (originally $59.95).  It is perfect for this weather transition to Autumn with its more substantial cut and material.  I'm wearing it with black skinny jeans and black flats and it will work under a blazer and with boots in winter.

3.  Favourite Recipe:
Soba noodle and prawn salad with edamame pesto

This recipe is from the February edition of Taste.com.au magazine.  I have already made this a couple of times and it is so fresh and full of flavour.  I love when healthy food tastes so amazing.  The edamame pesto is one of my favourite savoury things I've ever made - a big call I know. This will have to wait until next summer for me now, but if you are heading into warmer weather, try it, you'll love it.

4.  Favourite App:
Tamira at 'Lipstick with some sunshine' recently gave some great tips as part of your 'Photography Tips for Blogging' series.  The best tip was her recommendation for the excellent app 'Afterlight'.  For $1.99 it does everything I need on my iPAd with an excellent range of filters and frames and adjustments.  Who needs Photoshop?

I edited some photos of JJ very quickly in Afterlight.

5.  Favourite photo:

My two boys - love!!

Hope you have an excellent Friday!

Keep smiling
Dani
